Paul Lambert has used his German connections to arrange Aston Villa’s pre-season tour this summer.

Villa will play three matches during an eight-day stay in Germany, while four domestic friendlies at Wycombe, Luton, Crewe and Walsall have also been announced.

The club are also hoping to finalise details of two more practice matches, one more away and one at Villa Park.
Lambert, a Champions League winner with Borussia Dortmund, still has many friends and contacts in Germany and has previously held training camps there with former club Norwich.

Villa will return for pre-season training on July 1. They jet off to Germany on Sunday, July 7 and come back on Monday, July 15.

Villa will face SV Rodinghausen at Häcker- Wiehenstadion on Wednesday July 10 (7pm), SC Paderborn at Benteler Arena on Friday July 12 (6pm) and VfL Bochum at Rewirpowerstadion on Sunday July 14 (3.30pm) – all local times.

On Saturday, July 20 (3pm) they travel to Wycombe. They face Luton away on Tuesday, July 23 (7.45pm) and head to Crewe on Friday, July 26 (7.30pm) before visiting Walsall on Wednesday, July 31 (7.30pm).

So that is

July 10th - SV Rodinghausen (Away)
July 12th - SC Paderborn (Away)
July 14th -  VfL Bochum (Away)
July 20th - Wycombe Wanderers (Away)
July 26th - Crewe Alexandra - (Away)
July 31st - Walsall (Away)

Then 2 more games in August, one at home and one away

I bet Lambert wants to play Crewe just to scout some of their players. They have a class academy down there.

Seems like a good work up, unusual there isn't one 'glamour fixture' though, we usually have 1 a year. We played Fiorentina a few years back i remember and it was a lovely sunny day out at VP.

Think I'll be going Ireland for the Shamrock game but Germany might be just off the radar for me.

Definatley be at the Crewe, Wycombe, Walsall and Malaga games though...

60 days today until I see the Wycombe game... gutted.

Malaga are a good team, Joaquin, Buonanotte, Isco, Camoucho, Toulalan, Demichelis, Santa Cruz, Saviola.....

Great test, that's if Malaga don't have to sell anyone being expelled from the Champions League/ Europe.

Lil tip when you're over, don't call them "Shamrock", it drives the Rovers fans mental and makes me think of a shamrock shake from McDonalds rather than the team :-p

I don't think it's that they hate it as such. Would be weird if people just started calling us "Aston" for short instead of "villa".

They're Rovers just like we're Villa or Glasgow Rangers are Rangers. We can at least get it right when we talk about them.
Winning!

Ah ok, it wasn't in the first post so i wasn't aware 'til now, now that should be an exciting game!
Out of that list I doubt Isco will still be there since most of Europe's elite have been drooling over him this season.

It'd just be like calling Aston Villa Aston for short instead of Villa. It's just the shorthand the fans go by, they're Rovers fans, not Shamrock fans (plus calling a team Shamrock, especially an Irish team, sounds a wee bit silly)

I hear it was part of the deal to bring Westwood here.
