You all go loopy about us selling players without replacements and you have no one to replace Petrov with and yet you are willing to let him go to a team we will will be battling it out with for positions?

I agree! It seems to me that its somehow fashionable to get on Petrovs back!! Ok so I agree that at times he's frustrating but he's a big big member of our squad and without anyone other than Reo-Coker capable of playing in his position it would be extremely worrying if we sold him, plus what kind of message does it send out to the rest of the squad if the captain decides to hop it?

Id be more chuffed if Petrov came out and said 'thanks but no thanks! We finished above Liverpool last season and we hope to do it again this year!' That would at least make a stand for Aston Villa rather than roll over and jump ship!

Lets be honest, firstly, its only in an ideal world teams sign replacements before they sell players, most of the time they sell to fund for replacements or sell first then replace.

Also I think selling Petrov to the scousers would actually do us a favour as it would weaken them like I (notice the big I there! thats me, myself & I) think he weakens our midfield.

Lastly, i think this story is bull, but at the thought of him leaving, I'm throwing parties for the rest of the week. Anyone around the east coast of spain is welcome.

Captain or no captain, we have been having some very good debates regards Petrov all year, not just now! Its obvious opinions are split so I fail to believe if you like Petrov you are a 'good' fan, and if you dont you are a 'crap' fan. Take a look in the mirror, fans stay on topic and debate, kids throw their toys and start slaggin off.

If we lose Petrov it's a mistake for me, he holds the midfield together, gets stuck right in. He is unfortunate that in the centre with him there has been no creativity, hopefully that looks like it will change this year if Ash plays centre AM, with NRC alongside Stan. That is how I would play it

I simply could not believe we stuck with Petrov for so long, but eventually he came good. As someone else has said, he is a big memeber of our team. Petrov is not what's wrong with our midfield.

At the risk of boring the sh!t out of everybody, the problem last season with lack of creativity in the middle is squarely down to the manager; Downing did virtually nothing all season, but was guaranteed a place, our Ashley blew hot and cold, but again, nothing doing he played regardless.

The only big idea last season was to replace Carew with Heskey, or, when feeling like he must take a risk, play Heskey then replace him with big John. Pathetic.

I for one hope Petrov stays.

maybe i could have worded it more diplamatically. infact im hungover and it may have been a knee jerk reaction comment ( I come on here for light banter, not to pick fights in cyber world, arsed) .im just tired of the constant negativity towards petrov. who puts in a great shift week in week out. I feel he derserves some slack. . I never said anything if you like soley like petrov your a good fan or a bad.. I feel the same when people boo the team like its some pantomime.

Plus I never went off topic. Its all petrov related. going off topic would be talking about global warming. Which we seriously need to address before its too late.

good post there my man! I agree with most of that, creativity through the middle may well come if Ash is given a role behind the striker/s and I for one would like to try the 451 approach (4411 whatever!). Maybe Petrov would appear different to some of us if he wasn't so exposed all the time and had more men around him.

I also am really looking forward to seeing who MON is targeting, as usual its anyones guess, but I got a sneaky feeling there are a few surprises in the pipeline, and our debates are gonna be turned on their heads!!

Is it a bad time to say Petrovs Sheite!!!

He's had some cracking games and he has had some real humdingers. When he has having a bad day at the office the team generally struggles. I personally believe we could do better than petrov but thats just my opinion. I know money is tight so finding a replacement would be difficult. But do we need to, Once Delph comes back from injury and gains more experience he will be miles better than Petrov.
